Track day virgin question: I have read several time that one should empty the boot, cabin take out spare wheel etc. What do you do with your stuff when you are out on track. I was thinking of taking some tools, jack socket set etc but I am keen not to "loose" them, so how does it work? Cheers Steve

You just pile up your stuff in the corner of the pit garage that you are using and trust the people around you. If there are no pit garages available, you do the same outside, but with the addition of some waterproof cover and something heavy to weigh it down! We have several advantages in MGoT: 1. the attendees will be MG owners or equivalent e.g. SELOC members (Lotus enthusiasts) rather than the 'general public' - many of these know each other from other events and the various MG forums/bulletin boards. 2. there are often plenty of second drivers and spectators around to keep an eye on things whilst you are out on track - these people again are often 'known' within the MG community. 3. events usually run in sessions and so you can buddy up/share a garage with someone in a different session, so being able to keep an eye on the other person's stuff whilst they are on track. I know that none of these things constitute any real level of 'security', but this is how it works. :)

Just to add to what Dave has said Steve, it's not so much a case of you "should" empty the boot, more a case of "have to" empty the boot to meet scrutineering. But like Dave says, there's generally an air of trust amongst tracketeers.
