Hi, is MGoT planning any track days at Bedford this year? Really enjoyed the one last year. Cheers Justin

Cheers Justin
Hi Justin, We'd love to go back to Bedford, but it's very expensive and needs lots of cars to make it viable. Consequently, we've only ever ridden the coat tails of Lotus on Track and unfortunately they've had nothing to offer us so far this year. As soon as there's any opportunity we'll be back:)

Sounds good to me! I've noticed they've got a track evening next month. As I'm a novice (1 track day to my name!) would folks advise booking it? Am I likely to get in everyone's way, assuming there'll be track day veterans there driving rocket powered machines! What kind of mix of cars do you get at a 'regular' track day? Cheers

Cheers
To attend a Lotus on Track event (i.e. not one shared with MGs on Track), you need to be a member of LoT (they have an annual subscription). Whilst they will accept non-Lotus (usually Caterhams ) they are predominantly Lotus Elise and Exiges owners. As a novice I would not advise you to attend an open pit lane event with Lotus on Track. Any Lotus Elise/Exige will be much quicker than most MGs and in the Open Pit Lane events it is usually their more experienced drivers. You would be a very sore thumb! When we share days with LoT, we run a sessioned day with each club having their own session i.e. the cars don't share track time. Even within MG sessions we can have quite a mix of cars/drivers, though if we have more than one session we always try to split the faster cars/more experienced drivers from the slower cars/less experienced drivers.

Ah, crossed wires! I meant Bedford Autodrome have a track evening, not Lotus. What you're saying confirms my thoughts though - I think I'd potentiallybe in the way till I have more experience! Cheers Justin

Cheers Justin
Ah sorry - my misunderstanding :o You might want to stick with sessioned days for a while, where the sessions are based on experience. Obviously with MGoT days it's less of a problem, because the variance between the fastest and slowest MG is not as great as between an MG and the fastest car at a general track day. Additionally, you can be more confident that MG enthusiasts are a pretty well mannered bunch on track :)
