Hi

I found the same problem regard available size’s
To cut a long story short I ended up using Toyo R888 in 195/50R16 which are in fact 203 wide
The grip is excellent & when you do find the limit there is plenty of warning.

I do have a contact at Toyo: Alan Meaker (Technical Engineer) who can advise on cost, tyre pressure's etc.

I can send a private email with contact details if you require

Thanks for your reply Jonny, interesting, saw the Toyos but figured at 19mm bigger diameter, they might be a bit big for the front. Do you get any rubbing on full lock. What pressure do you run.

Hi

No problem with any rubbing & my car is set-up at 315mm from the centre of the wheel to the underside of the wheel arch.
I did find when running Goodyear Eagle’s (GD2) 195/45R16 front & 215/40R16 rear that the car would understeer, having the same size all round made the turn in so much better,
Diameters:
Goodyear 195/45R16 583 OD
Goodyear 215/40R16 578 OD
Toyo R888 195/50R16 599 OD

Taking the 599 – 583 = 16 so in fact the tyre is 8mm bigger

Tyre pressure: I run them at 30/31 when hot

Well as you can see this has been rumbling on in my mind since April with no progress but I'm going to have to do something now.
Went on a RR with a bunch from MG.org last Saturday and was a bit phased to see my rear os rim running out by about 1/16". Think it must have been that miserable pot hole at the end of the hairpin exit kerb at Croft :( - Anyone else admit to finding it.
So its on with Adrian's MGF register rims that have been sat in my garage + a set of tyres. Been phoning round and on the net today.
Seems Bridgestone S02s are made from unobtanium, as are Yoko A539s. I can get Toyo R888s 195/50R16s at £100 per corner  but are they really worth £40 more than plain old F1 GSD3s. I really fancy experimenting with something different but I've got my chancellor to consider (Bless her, she's a diamond really)
Opinions please peeps.

Try these guys. This is where I buy the boots for the 7, very good service and good value too.

I suspect that they may not be as IT savvy as some other companies but I find that they are very good on the phone 01354 688111.
They are definately worth another try.
