Hi Guys, What a fantastic day.. It was great to meet you all and I would like to say a BIG BIG thank you to the birthday boy inn garage 16, to Craig and to Nigel who went out of their way to help fix a problem with my TF so we could keep going for the rest of the day. Great guys with a great attitude.:) And to the crew of the 'Parkside' ZR - what a shame you felt the need to intimidate novices and first timers and frequently flout the safety rules, by passing in the braking zone, and coming past me through Corams. You came close to spoiling the day for at least four of us. However, your ignorance was paled into insignificance by the friendliness, courtesy and camaradarie of everyone else. Guys, it was a pleasure meeting you all, and I look forward to doing it all again soon. :p Stu, hope you got the car problem sorted and got home safely. Take care till next time. David

David
You should have let either myself or Dave L know about this at the end of the session, we would have had a few quiet words with the driver... I am sure it wasn't done on purpose but please don't be put off and next time let us know immediately and we will address it there and then to make sure it doesn't spoil your sessions or day. Any driver of any standard who continually ignores MGOT guidelines will be ejected. We take this very seriously. Stu;)

Dick Owens (Red K series Midget with white hard top) has kindly penned a few words about the day for our regular monthly column in Safety Fast (MGCC magazine). Dick is one of the track day regulars. There's probably still some space available as we now have a full page to ourselves. It would be nice to have a few words from a beginner's perspective. Anyone fancy adding their thoughts about the day? Just email me at dave@mgs-on-track.com. If anyone would like a bigger challenge we are always on the look out for larger articles, say 1000-1500 words that would be of interest to MG Enthusiast magazine. It needn't be about Snetterton in particular of couse, but about the joys of track days. Our objective is always to encourage more people to have a go!

A Super Day .. A big thank you and well done to the organising team and our photographers at Snetty ...Can we go there again ???? Only thing spoiling the day for me is the PUBLIC complaint about driving... The information sheet clearly states,, Complaints about driving to the organisers " On the Day " .. It also asked that the straights are not turned into Drag Strips by cars of similar power .....Nuff said ????? Looking forward to meeting many of you at Combe ...Gary ...:D
You can forgive a noob for the odd lapse of concentration but experienced drivers should know better imo. Personally I also appreciate a wave of thanks after I've pulled over. Hey, we're all there to have fun.

Lessons learned all round?
Complaints were made on the day to the marshalls. Overall the courteousy and patience of other, more experienced drivers was brilliant, as was their friendliness and helpfulness. David
Hi David and everybody else, I do not wish to add fuel to the debate, all I would say is that spectating for the remaining of the morning sessions at several points I did not see anything during that time that caused me concern. I'm not saying these things didn't happen, just not in my vision. It is something I watch for in particular, as I am very keen that newbies are not intimidated, as I know are the committee. In my view going into a corner behind a driver that is new or you don't know you should give them a cars length. Close the gap after the final apex (double apex bends) and be in a position to pass as soon as signalled. To not give this gap when going into corners is asking for trouble, if something is going to go wrong it will be, in most cases, before the apex. The gap gives you the chance to miss them rather than collect them. But lets hope we all understand where David (plus the other 3? are coming from) and in future learn to be more tolerant (on both sides). It is of course unfortunate that in this instance we only had one session with a wide band of experieince all out together. It didn't help that the last quarter of the track didn't afford a proper overtaking opportunity for quicker cars/drivers. As mentioned in detail in the drivers briefing. It may help if we could have a gallery of mug shots of the committee members. This might help new members identify who they were looking for on the day if they have questions, concerns or are unhappy. I would be very interested in how the young lady in the TF enjoyed her day? I believe her name was Elaine? Unfortunately after my troubles I never got chance to chat to her again about how it was going.? On a different note I must apologise to DICK Owens, one of my snaps is titled "Birthday Boy Vic" my sincere apologies Dick. By the why did you save me a bit of cake:confused: If so wrap it up, pop it in the freezer and I'll have it next time:D Here's to that next time. Martin.

Parkside MG ZR Dear Dodger, Firstly my name is John Brown and i was loaned the Parkside ZR for theSnetterton test. I really must take this opportunity to apoligise to you for an overtaking manouver at Corams. Although i did not witness this manouver, the driver at the time of the car was an ARDS instructor and he was showing my 16 year old son the quick way round the circuit. Unfortunatly he is a professional racing driver of 42 years of experience and he clearly overstepped his brief on the day. He was however spoken to by one of the officials on the day about this manouver and wishes to apologise for his over enthusiasm! The Parkside Car was only on loan for the day to gain circuit knowledge, and the overenthusiastic manouver by the ARDS insructor should no way reflect on the Parkside concern. My best regards, John Brown
