I realy looking forward to the activity day at north weald. If I have as much fun as I expect, I may well try and have a go at the Brands Hatch evening event. For this I understand I will need a crash helmet but what type of helmet will be suitable. Who does it need to be approved by, full face open face, £60 or £400. Any recommendations

You don't need to buy a tin top unless you are planning to join us on the track regularly but we sure hope you do get bitten by the bug like most of us. If you do decide to buy the following is the case:- "The only requirement for every track day is a helmet conforming to BS6658 Type A or Snell SA2000" Some tracks namely Brands insist on full face in an open top car but I think this is mainly aimed at the small screen cars like caterhams etc. I use an open face and have done so for 3 years now without being quizzed on it. See you at North Weald PS you don't need a crash hat for that !
