Thinking of buying a helmet but can't decide which. I drive a convertible but have no particular wish to use it on track with the hood down. In theory should get a full face, which would also give better protection, but find open face a bit more comfortable and better pheripheral vision. Any thoughts or comments.

The purpose of the rule is to prevent anything from outside the car getting in your face and causing distrction or visibility problems. Consequently, if you have the hood up and windows closed (windows up is more often enforced by pit lane marshalls) then there is no possibility of anything coming inside the car hence an open face helmet is fine. So, if you feel more comfortable with open-face and don't intend driving top-down, then go for it - they're cheaper as well :) Regards, Dave
