Many thanks to Dave and everyone who organised yersterday's track day at Donington. Had not driven there before, but had been a spectator a few times. Looking at the circuit map doesn't tell the whole picture at all. The Craner Curves certainly lived up to their reputation, great fun through them and then powering up the other side. Weather was very mixed, started off damp and slippery, then bright sunshine and dry track, to downpour and back to dry track. I had an 'instructor' session and he said at the beginning just one word 'tippytoe'! Interesting time with tyre pressures (Yoko A021R - need to get warm to work, but when they do, they are superb). Started with them a bit higher than usual, and found very little grip in the first seesion, even for the first two laps behind the pace car! At the end of the session they were stone cold. Dropped them back to normal road pressures and then started to really enjoy the day! Thanks again, Richard

Yeah it was a good day. Shame about the weather in the morning it did make the track very slippery! Unfortunately it was my 2nd time ever out on a track and I was having a bit of a time trying to keep the car from sliding around and mines a FWD! God only knows how the RWD lot were coping That was my first track day and I'm definately going to do another track day but probably not this year. I was in the Yellow ZR in the red session. I have to say everyone there was friendly and the guys in the garage I was sharing were decent blokes even helping out a newbie like me :) I had a great time whizzing around the track I was definately getting better finding my pace and trying to improve on it. So yeah thanks guys and I hope to see you at future events Andy

A most enjoyable day. I'm Malcolm, one of the LoT instructors. I had a great day and it was a pleasure to go out with Andy (above) on his first trackday, welcome to the addiction Andy :D It was also a great pleasure to go out with Quinton in his lovely MGB, Jeff Reid and his throbbing MGB V8 and not to forget Richard in his superb Mini Cooper. Also, a couple of sessions with Barry Smith in his Caterham Graduate series car was bracing to say the least (especially the 2nd where I forgot to swap my open-face (no visor) helment for a full-face! Well done on your 8th place finish at Silverstone on Saturday Barry. Tricky conditions at times and I think all the more enjoyable and instructive for it. Look forward to seeing you guys again at Silverstone in late November. Malcolm

Hey Malcolm, Thanks for the tuition It was greatly appreciated. I spent the rest of the sessions practicing what you showed me. Trying to steer as little as possible through the bends and where to turn in (just where the black bits start at Redgate). I have to say it was a superbly organised event I was very impressed! Yeah I've definately got the bug and will try and do Donington again next year along with a few others. Blimey I bet those caterhams went like a rocket! Great cars. I was surprised to see a Morris Minor there and pleasantly surprised to see how well it performed :) Cheers Andy
