An activity day is a perfect opportunity for those of you who have been thinking about doing your first track day, but not quite plucked up the courage to do it. It’s also great fun for old hands. So what actually is it? North Weald is an airfield, close to the junction of the M11 and M25 in Essex. We use a big patch of tarmac and layout a series of activities – typically these include a

high-speed 90 degree bend
handling course (figure of eight and a 360 degree turn joined by a straight)
slalom course
short circuit (marked by cones).
The emphasis is on having fun and exploring your, and your car’s, abilities in absolute safety. There is nothing to hit and only one car at a time on any activity. Furthermore, Andy Walsh of 1stLotus (see www.1stLotus.co.uk) will be running the day. Andy is an experienced performance-driving instructor and will give you some guidance, particularly with the high-speed bend. At this day you don't need a helmet - just you and your car. MG Metro Turbo I’ve recently purchased a Metro Cup MG Turbo. It will be a good 18 months before I can afford a national Licence and rebuild the car to race. I've no experience of tracks etc. Thought it would be fun to drive the car at North Weald. Its not road registered, but would enjoy a chance to drive it & chat to other MG owners. Is this possible for me and a few friends?

It's not a proper track day, just a fun day playing around on a large patch of tarmac. Not being road registered doesn't matter with this event. It will certainly give you the chance to get the feel of the car and there will be plenty of opportunity to chat to other MG owners :) Sharing the drive with a friend or two is also not a problem - you just pay for the car.

Dave, I posted my cheque off first class over a week ago (same day as dand) but have not been moved to confirmed booking. I've tried contacting Steve Childs but had no response yet. Was I too sideways last time or too slow at Brands and scared those brave marshals into banning me from events? Have Royal Mail let me down and should I send another cheque??? Cheers Tim

Cheers Tim
Tim, I've passed your query on to Treasurer Tim (Woolcott) who will be the person receiving your cheque. His local post is notoriously slow, but we'll get an answer for your soon. Either way, don'y worry we'll get it sorted - there are still plenty of spaces.:)

As yet there is still no sign of your cheque although I did reveived Dan Daly's cheque on the 18/19 of this month. If you send me a new cheque I'll let you know once I've received it. Can you drop me an email giving me the cheque number of the one which has gone missing so I let you know if it turns up. tim@mgs-on-track.com Regards Tim
Hi i am a track day novice virgin and i have not been able to find out what time i need to be at venue
Don't worry, I'll be sending out some info by email nearer the time :) North Weald isn't a proper track day and so the preliminaries are very informal. Basically, if you arrive around 8:50 for a 9:00 start that'll be fine.
