25/03/2006 10:54:02 ZR Rich Can anyone out there help me please, i purchased a new 55 plate ZR trophy:) only i am stuck with a problem regarding the alarm system. When i bought it from a 'reputable' dealership they assured me it had a catagory 1 thatcham alarm, as indicated in the spec on the MG website. i recently took it to an independent alarm shop, following a day where it went off 3 times on its own for no other reason than the wind,who told me it was only a catagory 2. What should it have and how do i tell what it should have, as if it is less than it should be i need to sort it out with the dealership. Also does anybody know how i can get a proof of fitting for my insurance, as the dealer told me it was in the handbook, which i have gone over cover to cover with no signs. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

25/03/2006 12:27:18 norman Can't help with which category is fitted to your car but this link will show you the differences [url]http://www.thatcham.org/security/index.jsp?page=75&c=cat1[/url] Cat 1 seems to require perimeter protection and battery backup which is why the TF is a Cat 2. Most insurers will accept that the category is as per manufacturers spec. if it was a standard fitment. If it was an optional extra you should have receipt for the extra which should quote Make/Model etc.
