When I last asked I think we had approx 380 names on our register. It's clearly not enough as the bookings for Silverstone show. So the question is how do we find another 380? Let's brainstorm it, all ideas are good ones at this stage. Get your creative hats on chaps!

The Disco Owners Club (Landrovers that is, nothing to do with hits of the 80s, 90s and today) are considering placing a downloadable flyer on the club website. The idea is members can download and print off a flyer to pass on to any non-Club vehicle they know of. OK so it won't generate hundreds of new members but is virtually cost-free to Club as a whole. The only dilemma facing the DOC committee is potential complaints from people who regard flyers under wipers as unsolicited junk mail. I know quite a few TF/Fs at the gym I use, and always mention MGoT if I happen to see the owners although they never seem that enthusiastic when the endorsement is just a verbal one. I even stuck my neck out once and fraternised with an MX5 owner. Please forgive me....:( Second option, how about a discreet "www.mgs-on-track.com" graphic to go across the rear of one's car? Ermmm......not entirely unlike the XPF one. Third idea before my head hurts.... how do we get a flyer put in SF? I notice the last two editions have had inserts promoting other registers.

I'm not sure that there's much mileage right now as we seem to have saturated the Safety Fast audience through the massive coverage we've had over the last few months. And, of course, we do have our monthly column.

From the other threads, the banner ad idea from the BBS, mg-rover.org and XPF would be another way of raising general awareness...

Regarding graphics for cars... As some of you know already, I can get small numbers of graphics made up on the sly at work as long as it's simple single colour text. (like the "MGoT" on the day-glo jackets) Fonts can be virtually anything from the likes of Microsoft Word. We could use Bedford on May 31st for a bit of market research. Let me know who's going and if you'd be willing to stick www.mgs-on-track.com across the rear of your car and in what size/colour and I'll see what I can do. I'll probably get it in silver for us classy Tahiti Blue owners ;) and I guess a small variety of colours on different cars would be good to gauge reactions. Wonder if it's even worth mentioning in the guide on the day... "Look out for the new (prototype?) MGoT graphics on selected cars..." etc. Alas we can't really use my contact as a permanent supplier. The MOD Fun-Police might start asking questions.:(

How can we reach the MGOC?

As a trial idea Rob, I'll get silver across the rear of my car and white (or maybe yellow to compliment the BRG?) for the sills of yours. Any other takers?

He's MGOC chairman I think? MGOC have a club magazine but their website appears to be nothing more than a multi-screen advert for the Club and it's services. Is there a conflict of interest if people attend a meeting of an MGCC Register as MGOC members?

We need to work hard to ensure that being a Branch of MGCC is seen as a benefit to all, we couldn't exist without it, but we must also make sure that it is equally clear that we are open all. I'll see if I can make contact with Roche.
There's no conflict from our side, we welcome all MG owners.
Agree whole heartedly. Just trying to cover what other (hard-core MGCC) folk may feel. You're right though, that's their problem, not ours.

OK, silver for me, white for Dave. White or yellow, Rob? Would you like the entire length of the sills covered or just forward of the seam or just a discreet smaller logo? Obviously I'll meet with the graphics bloke at work and preview some fonts, something a bit more stylish than the plain "MGoT" on the dayglo.
Just rear of the sill seam seems a good place to me - something not too big and proportionate to that space. I have a monochrome version of the logo that I'll send you, which could be worked into it perhaps.
Just rear of the sill seam seems a good place to me - something not too big and proportionate to that space
Looking at my car today that's exactly what sprang to mind, something to fill the sill between the rear wheel arch and the join in the sill, and probably about an inch to two inches high. The logo may be difficult to incorporate. The machine and software they use at work is set up for single colours only so to add a logo means producing several layers. This can be done but might look a bit shabby fairly quickly as it's more difficult to get multiple layers to lay smoothly, and secondly we have a Royal visit in three weeks so the graphics shop (who come under the trade umbrella of "painters") are rushed of their feet right now! I checked the colours today though and they also have a pale cream that might look good on red?
