As its just coming upto to Xmas and I've already spent more than I should have, I can't afford an uber helmet at the moment for the end of January especially with track fee, petrol to, from and during the event etc, so my question is, would there be much difference between the 2 cheaper OMP ones from Demon Tweeks. The OMP Intergrale Plus one is £95 http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/products/ProductDetail.asp?cls=MSPORT&pcode=OMPSC00605L The OMP Formula 4 up is £216 http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/products/ProductDetail.asp?cls=MSPORT&pcode=OMPSC710-L Does anyone have experience of these two helmets and would I regret getting the cheaper one for the time being. From the blurb it seems that the cheaper one may be a little heavier as it uses a different material, not as comfy inside, and has a slightly smaller visor aperture but would It make a difference for only occasional use? What do you seasoned MGoTr's use, and what do you think to the two choices above? Cheers, Gary P.s. Would you recommend gloves as well?

The only other factor is whether you want open face or closed face. The MSA rules say that you should have a closed face if you intend to drive a softop with the hood down. However, I've not seen circuits impose this rule. We've have had some helmets for sale through the MGCC - club open face for £55 (RRP £59) and Shark Closed Face for £135 (RRP £150). You could call Sharon Smith at Kimber House on 01235 555552 and see if she can still get you a good deal. Alternatively, Easytrack have the Integrale Plus closed face for £87.50 - see http://www.easytrack.co.uk/shop/shop1.asp?category_id=1&title=Helmets However, when buying you really need to try on the helmet for size. It needs to be a very tight fit - think 'pinched cheek look' :) As a rough guide, measure the circumference of your head, just above the ears and small = 55-56cms, medium = 57-58cms, large = 59-60cms. As for gloves, you'll see very few people wearing them at track days - slightly more would have driving boots, but a helmet is about as far as specialised clothing goes for most people. Hope this helps.
