Hello After trying a few tyres I found the Bridgestone SO3's to be really superb especially in the wet. My local tyre dealer says that the SO3 is now discontinued and a replacement is not planned. Looking for a tyre that is good all round but especially in the wet. For dry conditions Im using the Dunlop replacement for the Formula R. My car is an MGB GT V8 4.6 220hp at wheels. Thanks Mark

Thanks Mark[/QUOTE] Mark, I think you'll struggle to find a really good tyre for wet and dry conditions. I've heard good reports of the Yokohama 048R in the wet, but my experience of them is only as a dry tyre where they takes some beating !! For wet use I have Yokohama 021R but they are only available in a few tyre sizes. Nearly forgot, I run a 3.9 V8 with about 200 bhp at the flywheel. Dave

The Bridgestone SO series are superb tyres - and am stunned and shocked to hear that it is being discontinued? The SO-2 continues to be available I gather - not least because they were fitted as original equipment to a number of production vehicles - including the Honda S2000. What sizes do you need Dave? Failing obtaining those, then perhaps consider Goodyear F1 GS-D3s or Toyo T-1R Proxes. Neither are quite as good as the Bridgestone IMO - but the Goodyear in particular offers superb wet-weather performance. Failing that - what is your budget, and what are your restrictions? If you compete in the MGCCSC, then you need to look at the MSA 1A tyre listing - but if not, then track tyres -- such as Toyo R888 could be worth considering. Apparently not bad in the wet and awsome in the dry. I really want to try these on the F - but they're not available in the correct profiles for 16" rims. I may take the plunge if I can justify to myself fitting them to a spare set of 15" rims I have lying around in the garden (!)

Mark, I don't know if you have got your tyres yet, and what rims you have, but I started my Trackday experience on Dunlop D84J's. I think they have been excellant, and I know of at least one prominant MGB racer that uses them and swears by them. ABout £85 a pop.
