16/01/2023 13:51:52 Phil Barton I did the Donington day last year and really enjoyed it, and was chatting to one of the guys about Oulton Park and asked if there was a MGoT day there as I'd love to do one but to my surprise there wasn't! I was wondering if it'd pop up this year but nothing as yet and I was wondering why not?  It's a great circuit to spectate at (I've been lots of times to see the BTCC and support races there), anyone who's driven there, racing drivers and journalists alike seem to rave about it ('mini Spa / Nurburgring', etc.) and given some of the lesser known circuits that do get a track day, Oulton (and us) miss out!

We have been nervous about holding an event at Oulton as the last time we had a session there was in 2016 when we only sold 14 places out of 24, so you can imagine that was something of a lossmaker. I don't know why it was so poorly attended as there must be numerous MGs within a fairly close radius. We did actually enquire about the track again this year and were offered a session on a Wednesday which is probably less attractive to those with jobs to go to! In addition the cost meant we would have to price the event higher than Silverstone so, on balance, it was decided that the risk was still too great. Hopefully we will see you at Donington, Duncan. 09/02/2025 17:13:58 phil barton Hi Duncan, Thanks for the feedback, it’s certainly a puzzle why there was a lack of take up given how central and close to the M6 it is! Happy to do Wednesdays now I’ve retired ;-) but took days off anyway to do the tracks I’ve done previously! Thanks again.
