Hi all.
I am a newbie to the group but hoping to register for the Donnington event but am having problems with my track day membership. I am able to log on to the forum and post this message but not actually register for the event. Hopefully someone can help and to see you on the 4th… Neil
Not sure what went wrong for you Neil. Do let one of the committee know if they don't already. Anyway, I'm glad it's all sorted and hope you have a great day at Donington.

Hello all. I am looking forward to meeting you at Donnington on the 4th. It will be my first event with the club and first time ever with my car on a track. I have a 1973 mg b roadster. A couple of years ago I had the engine recondition by Peter burgess and so it is now 1860 cc and tuned up by him. I know v little about how to prepare the car for the day. I did wonder if I need to put a baffell in the sump? Do people do that ? Any other tips on car preparation would be greatly received. Thanks . Neil

Hi Neil,
Great to have you with us and welcome to MGs on Track. Most people don't have significant modifications to their cars before taking them on track. As a first timer I certainly wouldn't go down the route of sump baffles, they are not needed at this stage. What i would do is make sure you have plenty of brake pad depth on the pads and shoes and that the brakes are properly adjusted and your fluid has been changed recently (within the last year). The brakes work hard on circuits as you tend to brake later than you would on the road and with higher pedal pressure so the fluid and pads work very hard during the day. other than that, make sure the fluids in the car are topped up as they should be and that you don't have any fluid leaks (yes I know its an MG and they all weep a bit of oil!). On the day, remove anything from the cockpit and boot that you can so nothing moves around and finally have a great time. Track driving is rather addictive and we hope you have such a great time that you can't wait to do it again. On the day, we have several committee members present so please do ask anything of us if anything is unclear or you have any concerns and we can then sort it on the day.
As Steve suggests a look at our FAQs is well worth it but don't get hung up on modifications to the car at this stage, just enjoy driving it nearer its' limits than you can do on the road. See you at Donington - I will be the person doing sign on so will look out for you.

Dear Neil,
If you're new to track driving (and even if you're not) a session with an instructor will ensure that you get the most out of your day, and is probably the best value 'tuning' there is.
Look forward to seeing you at Donington,
Duncan.
