Does anyone know if you need a certain type approved helmet for this track? It will be my first MGs on track event and I would normally just hire one but due to COVID we can’t also think of doing Donington later in the year so would be great to be covered for both Thanks in advance Richard

Morning Richard, helmet hire will be available when we open booking up on Monday so that is an option for you I'm just checking out latest helmet specs, typically it's open helmet for hard tops, full face for soft tops whether the roof is up or down. It can vary across the circuits though I'll let you know re spec when the 'man' who knows confirms either via me or directly to this thread
Thank you both for your information
Blyton is a great place for a novice or inexperienced driver. It is fairly short. Its flat with great visibility. There are no armco barriers. The surface is even and normally very grippy.. The converse of the grippy tarmac is fairly high tyre wear especially on normal road tyres. It is also hard on brakes as several of the corners at the end of straights are of the 90 degree variety. Due to the relatively simple layout Im sure you will soon feel confident and start to enjoy yourself. Many more experienced track drivers still come to Blyton as to get the bend sequences spot on and increase your pace is extremely challenging. . Im still trying for the "perfect lap"!!! All I would add from a personal point of view is make sure whatever helmet you get fits you like a glove and that you feel comfortable and safe . You might feel like a **** sitting at home with it on for 30 mins or so and not driving but it has been done ;)

A good learning track as Peter writes as there are no hidden features and plenty of run off, tightest area is the lancaster bend with less run off but you have just come thru one of the 2 chicanes so typically not going that fast. Unfortunately I can't make it this year as I'm away that week and it's only 40mins from my home :( Have a great day and if you are unsure about helmet type /size and you haven't already done so you could hire one to check it out.
