[QUOTE=Mike H][font=verdana][size=-1]Hi all,
Am in contact with a company that produce drilled & grooved discs, sounding them out as a possible supplier of drilled &/ grooved discs for the AP 4-pot calipers (Trophy & TF160). With the OE discs being a touch on the pricey side (!?!), there's plenty of room for a saving even when extra drilling/grooving work goes into them.
As usual the final price is driven by quantity, but if you'd be interested in principle in a pair in the near future let me know; hopefully an attractive price can be negotiated.
If you wouldn't want drilling or grooving, but a better price on direct replacements then still let me know - all part of the same production process.
Cheers
Mike

I would certainly be interested in a set of Disks depending on Price and quality.....

Quality I'll be able to report on next week, after a thorough test of some of their 240mm versions on the rear around Castle Combe (who've recently added a chicane, obviously a step ahead of me!), between some Mintex 1166s. I managed to make the OE items last 30k+ miles on the Trophy I had without excessive wear (albeit on standard pads), so AP Racing do seem to make them out of sturdy stuff but the cost premium is a bit of a choker.

Been distracted with other prepping for a Castle Combe day, meanwhile was hoping for some more interest before pursuing manufacturer - I think your estimation on their required minimum volumes is going to be spot on, but I'm waiting for confirmation of all terms. If I get chance tomorrow I'll see if AP can give any more info on how they see the future spanning out.
Finally fitted the AP 4 pots & 304mm discs over the weekend ready for Combe today, and I now have a car that can gain as much ground on entry braking as the much-missed Trophy did. Very happy with SBS Ceramic pads front & Mintex 1166 rears & 5.1 fluid, best pedal I've ever had (on any car, ever!), and judging by the variety of chirping there doesn't seem to be an imbalance issue. Even happier about out-braking the VX220s :p , but rather less happy about having to watch a friend's MR2 Turbo bounce off the armco just after the Esses :(

Mike, in order to try and progress this project a little further, put my name down for a set of discs - may be two sets (although I haven't even got the Trophy calipers yet!!! LOL)

PS might be worth asking AP/ Willwood etc as to how much alloy-bell discs are likely to cost. Not necessarily that cheap, but will reduce the unsprung weight relative to the solid steel MG rotors...

OK, that's 6 pairs on the shopping list, surely that's enough to make them realise it'll be worth setting the tooling up..? I'll keep on their case, and I'll contact AP again next week - nothing seems to be getting through to MGR dealers or suppliers for presumably monetary reasons, so maybe they'll become approachable directly.

As Ian Matheson has reported on the BBS, EBC are now offering 304mm discs for a pretty keen price, plus the option of grooved & dimpled at no extra cost it seems. I don't think my source was going to get anywhere near that price so aren't interested in even a moderate volume. Well, I tried... :(
