I had a great day yesterday, with rain and a wet track in the morning, which dried out in the afternoon ( at least enough to get reasonable grip). The combination of conditions gave me a good indication of the handling of my MGB GT. It was its first outing on a track, as I consider the TF to be the "track" car, but its forced holiday with the mechanic meant I had to draft in the "reserve". The B is a 1967 standard 1800cc which, given the numbers of V8s around in my group, I worried that I would be a rolling roadblock. I started slowly, given the conditions and my lack of knowledge of how the B would behave. By the end of the day, I was more sure of it, and happier to push harder. The car behaved well, and gave me confidence in all conditions. All I have to do now is replace the brake light switch and find out why the wipers are randomly intermittent (getting home was "fun"). Its interesting what a track day shows up! Thanks to all the organisers and the track personnel for making it such an enjoyable day.
