Forum Home / Aims and Objects, Membership etc. / Points means prizes - Loyalty scheme - Oct 20th Silverstone

We need to get cracking with our thoughts on this as we have a second day at Silverstone on October 20th, which we agreed with Rob Gammage would be an end of season event that would possibly have some MG S&R flavour - a bit like Pembrey last year. The idea would be to announce this 2nd Silverstone day with some loyalty scheme that allowed us to reward regulars with cheaper pricing. Let's please formalise our thoughts from the last meeting where we talked about tiers of membership and how we'd assign these based on attendance.

My memory is a little hazy over what exactly we discussed - can anyone post a summary? In principle, I am all in favour of introducing 'track miles' - but the question was "how long should they last" before expiring, how much 'value' each mile should carry and by what mechanism would the totals be carried (which was a software issue that I believe Steve was looking at).

SteveH, can you remind us from the minutes and your much better memory of our general consensus on this?

I think that we should ask Steve to include a Goldfish smilie for us Dave! LOL

I'm so glad not to be a Goldfish! o o o :-) Trackmiles allocated based on history plus current year orders, to provide incentive. Loyalty Tiers: Bronze on track x times Silver on track y times in last year plus y orders in current year Gold on track z times in last year plus z times in current year Platinum by invitation only, at the discretion on the MGoT Committee.

We were just unsure about how many events to associate with each tier weren't we? Then there was base level membership wasn't there - i.e. just registered with a membership number, but no attendance. OK - so just to put up something to talk about - how about: The rolling window for scoring being 24 months. Bronze = 3 events within rolling window Silver = 5 events within rolling window Gold = 8 events within rolling window Platinum = special merit (e.g. committee work over a period) or perhaps racking up some very large number of vents e.g. >=30 events total within a five year period. Going on the 2003 and 2004 stats we would have 1 Gold member, 6 Silver members and 16 Bronze members. However, bear in mind that in 2003 there were only two events that I have records for. In 2004 there were seven events that I have records for - counting North Weald days, which perhaps should not count? I don't think it's practical to go to the level of differentiating one event from another, do you? We'd have to agree on how many points an event was worth etc. etc. OK, so much for the debate about tiers. What would you then get in terms of corresponding priviliges? Here's another strawman. Base - none, just membership discounts etc, with 3rd parties Bronze - 5% discount on event pricing Silver - 10% discount on event pricing Gold - 15% discount on event pricing Platinum - 20% discount on event pricing Plus the odd ad-hoc deal that makes sense targeted at Gold or Silver I've made all that up, just based on what sort of an incentive sounds reasonable. We'd have to do the sums to see what that would do to our revenue and pricing models.

Rolling 24 months, not quite what I had in mind. Last year performance plus current year performance. When you're through the threshold you get your discount. This is reset each year, so the higher discount is only given once the new year threshold is met. Therefore you start each year at the level indicated by the last years points only. This should be set so that you cannot stay at a given level without orders in the new year. Let's say someone achieves Gold in in July 2005, then for the rest of 2005 they get Gold discount. In January 2006 they will drop back to Silver until they order enough to go Gold again. Similar for Silver and Bronze.
