Castle Combe circuit have been served with a noise nuisance order by the local council. Although posted in other forums, check out: http://www.racecar.co.uk/cc/story.asp?ArticleID=87 Don't know what this means in detail, and I suspect may only impact on the F3 and GT racing, but the loss of these (if it happens) could well impact on trackday fees??? As a local lad, I shall be writing to all the North Wiltshire District Councillors! Mike H

Combe protest For what its worth this weeks autosport ran a story on this and had an e mail address you could post your concern at the 'ban on GT/F3 cars at Combe. Seems that their agreed limited number of noisy days is under threat,These days bring in thousands of visitors and millions of pounds to the local community, hence subsidising all other events at the venue: but the shortsighted "not in my back-yard" brigade are at it again. If they succeed the consequences for Combe could be dire ,the repercussions for club racing and track/test days thoughtout the UK will be effected. Dont have autosport at hand but Im sure someone will point you in the right direction. I registered my protest before binning the mag as it was wall to wall Formula One , though did have an interesting pic of what the ZT will look like in DTM guise. Im sure someone will be able to post it on here.

Castle Combe has a forum which is very active on this issue. This link may be helpful if you want to make a protest. http://www.racecarnewmedia.co.uk/castlecombeforum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=138

The real shame is that for the money combe spend on attempting to reach an agreement with the local council or appealing the ban they could buy the property of the individual that has forced the council to act. If combe appeal the ban then the council will have to spend money on lawyers or in court which will only raise the local rates or lead to a reduction in services. Perhaps this should be pointed out to the neighbours of the people complaining about the noise. Dave

** Latest, Latest, Latest ** It would seem that the circuit have just lost their appeal against the noise order. Check out the following Press Release issued by the local council: http://www.northwilts.gov.uk/index/news-article.htm?newsid=18391 For information, I am also copying an extract of an email I have received directly from Rodney Gooch, who is the Sales & Marketing Director at Combe. "Yes, after a 3 day hearing the magistrates have found in favor of the council and awarded costs against us. We will get the Superbikes out of the way and then decide where we will go" A sad day and, it would seem, the subject of much crtiticism across various web forums and news groups! Mike H
