Have you had a worn CV joint on your MGF? If so, what were the symptoms? I have some vibration that I feel through the seat of the car - not the steering wheel - the vibration remains even having swapped between two sets of wheels, so it's not a wheel balance issue. The vibration is minor at the moment, only really noticeable when the car is accelerating hard and is passing through 50mph in 3rd gear. My mechanic has checked over the rear of car - engine mounts, rear suspension, drive shafts and can't find anything other than some minor play in the CV joints and is wondering whether that is the cause.

Hi Dave Can't really help, never having experienced the problem. Would have thought if they are hitting a resonance at 50, that it would be in all gears. Try it in second which should be do-able at around 5700 RPM. I should point out that this suggestion may be biased. I feel its someone else's turn to feel like a chav, having recently experienced some rather straight looks whilst fault finding my high rev missfire driving down our local urban dual carriageway at 5000 RPM in second ;)

A c.v joint would definitely cause that but you would normally get it as you accelerate and would ease off as you decelerate. Don't forget tho a small amount of play in a cv joint is normal
