Having just read Nigel's newsletter I thought it appropriate to thank Martin Holmes for the cracking job he has done as Secretary over the last several years? I know he was recruited by Fran and Tim onto the committee and agreed to take on the Secretaries role tentatively, but he refused to wear the high heels  . He grew into the job admirably, whilst also running his farm and energy business, and my personal thanks go to him for his support whilst I was Chairman. Also thanks to Steve Brand, his enthusiasm for everything MGoT, was enormous, his drive to publicise the club unbounded and his welcome at track days for newbies heart warming. To the committee both old and new, well done, you are doing a fantastic job, as the past committees always have. So long may you continue :D

Hi Martin I'm speechless! I tried to do what I thought was necessary to keep the MGoT flag, flying high... It was only the lack of time and finances that didn't or doesn't, allow Publicity to do more. Like any committee position, it is the skills you pick up, probably in your career or through life experiences, that offers the chance to develop something we all have a passion for... MGs on track. I only played a small part in MGoT Publicity that would not be where it is today without the help of those, (and you know who you are) that went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that we had an imposing presence at every event we attended. Leaving the role of Publicity Officer in the capable hands of Nigel, assures me that it will continue. It is good to hear from you Martin and thank you for your kind words!

Hi Martin, Sorry for the time taken to respond to your very kind comments ( apart from the high heels! ) but it's been holiday time. As you might expect I have expressed my thanks to the committee when the sad day came last March to put the 'pen' down. It has been a terrific 5 years serving as Club Secretary and of course you were my first Chairman followed by our current Chairman Dave. What a privilege to have worked alongside both of you - two passionately enthusiastic and extremely hard working Chairman. We all do what we do as committee members because we genuinely enjoy providing such wonderful fun for our members but also relish driving on circuits in our fabulous MG's ourselves too. Long may that last! I think as committee members we only are able to perform in our respective duties if we operative as a fully integrated cohesive unit and so the relative ease that enabled me to perform as Secretary was down to my fellow friends and colleagues supporting me and so my sincere thanks for that. I would urge the club membership to consider serving on the committee as and when the committee needs new members. It's a fantastically rewarding and enjoyable experience. What other hobby enables you to involve yourself in booking the country's major motor sport circuits, including on occasion Silverstone, handle up to 120 participants, meet journalists and photographers, discuss and agree HSE compliance, perform Day Manager duties and a whole host of other fascinating duties that all go to make our Trackdays possible. If you enjoy promotional activity then again there is a role for you as Steve Brand has done a superb job as Publicity Officer ( now sadly retired but what a substitute in Nigel Silman ) in raising the Club's profile on the printed page, online and a host of Shows including last November at the NEC. Thanks to all my fellow office holders and a special mention to Fran who has outlasted me as Treasurer - keep going Fran (!) - does an amazing job in difficult circumstances with a creaky old website that is soon to be renewed, fingers crossed! So, in conclusion I have massively enjoyed my time being at the heart of MGs on Track and thank you so much again Martin for your public thanks. Much appreciated and I am delighted to hand over to James Mumford who has already got off to a flying start as new Club Secretary and I know we are in safe hands and he will do a superb job for us all.
