For what it's worth Michael, I run Falken Ziex ZE912 185/65 14 on my BGT,
with beefed up suspension, and find them an excellent all round tyre, good in the wet and dry. Certainly stuck well round Donnington!:D
A set lasts a season, although by the end I will have ripped the outer edges off, and I am coming to the end of my third set. You have to bear in mind I am running "cart springs" on the rear with an archaic suspension set up, but I would certainly recommend them based on my experience.
Hope this helps.
Cheers
Richard

Hi Michael,
According to MG Motor, the Falken ZE914 are recommended fits (as are Proxe T1Rs), but only in certain sizes. I can confirm the stories about Malaysian Toyos, they replaced my fronts FoC due to the issues with mixing Japanese & Malaysian tyres, but the handling in the wet now is way away from the handling on the old Japanese made Toyos. Once these need replacing, I wont be buying Toyos again and am also tempted to go down the Falken route.
The MG Motor tyre advice is here:

Good luck & let us know how you get on!

Federal 595 RS-R is another option, a number of people have these on F's and TF's and give them good reports for trackday use.

I was recommended Federal 595 RS-R by both Dave Livingstone and Rob Bell who use them on their F's.
I have only used mine on track (on my Trophy) at a very wet Castle Combe and a very wet Donington. I was impressed on both occasions at the level of grip on a 'new to me' tyre, despite them never really getting up to temperature.
They are very competitively priced to, coming in at around £300 for a set of four 205/45/16.

I quite fancy the Federals, but it would have to be a full set, and my front ZZ3s have still got too much tread. I'll probably get the Falkens and if all four tyres use up their treads at the same time I could be tempted to go Federal.
