Hi, try EBC green stuff, a fast road compound, good prices, they dont disintegrate when your on the track days, and they work from cold. We havnt managed to destroy a set on the Race Metro (K-Series / same calipers) yet !!! Laters.....

I gather that EBC have changed their compounds a few times over the last couple of years. When I last had GS pads, they were very disappointing around the brake-demanding Donington: by the end of the sessions they smoked, caked everything in dust and the pad blocks were badly cracked when I removed them. BUT that was 5 years ago I think - so hopefully the newer pads are much better and from what you say, they are which is excellent news :D Having said all that, I'm still smitten with the 1177s :D

Perhaps you should try pressing the middle pedal! I ran greenstuff pads on my race metro and they disappeared faster than standard ones, leaving a whole load of black crud all over then wheels and sides of the car. Mintex 1144's last for the best part of a season, slow the car down, cost about the same, and don't make such a mess. When I tried redstuff in the F they fell apart amid lots of grinding noises during two SLOW sessions around Donington. Swapping to 1177's gave much better performance throughout the rest of the day as well as on the road since. Al

When I first got my F in mid 2003, I got a full set of new EBC Green Stuff fitted (and new front EBC discs). The previous owner had M1177 fitted for racing but used on the road too. Used at a Castle Combe track day and a few sprint/hillclimbs (plus small amount of road use). Green stuff seem to have a very good confidence inspiring first bite which was good as a trackday "beginner" and short sprint runs. They did not show any detoration at Castle Combe although it is not the most brake reliant circuit with plenty of cool down time between corners. They certainly smelt afterwards though. I moved over to Mintex M1144 after the wear rate seemed very high and have been very happy. Advice from Questmead was that mintex test their pads for police force specifications. The main test is maximum braking from 70mph and then accelerate and redo. This is done 25 times in a row. Take with pinch of salt but they reckon EBC Green can not survive this. With M1144 Have to press a little bit harder on the pedal from word go but they have survived 3 track days including Cadwell Park which really required stamping on down the hill (I blame the over weight instructor ;)) I am now moving over to M1177 because I feel that I can get more out of the brakes as I improve (not only in braking but also the speed I reach before the corner). However, I would have no problem using M1144 again. Hope this helps.
