I have just heard that Tony Gaze died yesterday, in Australia, aged 93. For those who may not know, he was instrumental in Goodwood being opened after it had been used by pilots to race around the perimeter of the air field. If it was not for him and Freddie March we would not have Goodwood Motor Circuit as we know it today. One thing I hadn't appreciated was that he was awarded the DFC three times for his wartime efforts as a Spitfire pilot. RIP
