Hi Guys I have just bought an MGTF and need to change my tyres before doing my first track day as my current tyre treads are 3mm front & 4mm rear and different makes on each axle. From searching the net it seems like Toyo Proxies T1-R 's are a good tyre to go for (and it seems MG approved for the TF now from a news thread on the new MG site 25/3/11). I would appreciate any comments/advice/recommendations/alternatives before i spend my hard earned cash!

T1-Rs seem to work well on TFs but I would save your tyre change until after North Weald. The tarmac there, unlike a race circuit, is quite sharp and abrasive. You will be encouraged to spin out a couple of times as part of the learning process and the afternoon activities will doubtless cause some more tyre wear.

Thanks Tim for the great advice. Sounds like a good plan!:)

T1 R's certainly work well on my zs and I know of a few TF owners who also swear by them. Definitely go with what Tim says as well. When I did North Weald (which is great fun) it did take it's toll on the tyres.
