05/04/2013 09:05:06 Steve Hill [SIZE=2]We return to North Weald airfield again on Friday 17th May 2013 for the first of two visits this season. This is not a track day but a Starter Experience - an event for you to have fun in your car, increase your driving skills, gain confidence in both your own and your car’s abilities and meet other like-minded MG owners. It is designed for absolute beginners or novice track day drivers who wish to gain confidence before venturing onto a race circuit. It allows you to explore your car’s handling in a safe environment and to gain confidence under the watchful eye of a performance driving instructor. [/SIZE] [SIZE=2]Numbers are limited to just 23 cars and only one car is active on each exercise at a time, minimising any risk to car or driver. After a group introduction and explanation of the day ahead, we begin with the high-speed bend activity. This mimics the situation of suddenly arriving at a bend when you are going too fast, the idea being to get around it under control. Once everyone has made some progress with this the day moves on to two coned circuits providing an opportunity to try out your new found skills and explore the capabilities of your car. All of this is great fun, but of course is designed to give you the confidence to come away from the day with new skills and book your first track day. [/SIZE][SIZE=2]No experience is required. No helmets are required. Just you and your car. The cost for the day is £45 for MGCC Members (£55 for non-members) with a start time of 9am. 20/04/2013 13:25:32 NigelS Hi, those of us on the MGoT committee that help run the day usually stay over at the Travelodge which is about 5mins away. the big problem is there is no bar or restaurant there, but if there are a few of us that want to meet up to eat, then we will suggest a location to meet, eat & greet! It was £57.75 inc breakfast, so pretty good i think - and it has a bar! Not sure what time i will get there as coming down after work on Thursday but if anyone else decides to stay there let me know.
