From what I've seen on track most people are able to film from inside their car with a mount but not hand held. Are there certain types of mounts that are not allowed? Would a windscreen vacuum type mount be ok if I doesn't restrict view? Once they're on they generally aren't coming off in a hurry...

This is in all circuit contracts I have seen and if we allowed them it would invalidate our Public Liability Insurance. Also the pit lane marshals look for them and will stop a car going out that they fitted with them. They are fine for all normal circumstances, the problem comes if the unfortunate should happen and you hit something solid at high speed, they come unstuck and then become a missile. The most common sort I've seen and the one I use is this head rest mounted one http://www.cameragrip.co.uk/acatalog/hague_chm_camcorder_headrest_mount.html

Cheers Martin, mgb has a single post so I may have to make a bracket up. Unless anybody has seen a good one that's suitable for a single post headrest?

Paul It's just a bit of alli box section, i have one for the two post headrest type. You might be able to make one that goes between the two seat head rest posts. Put a few camera mount points across and you could film from different angles on different session. Cut the best together when editing and it could look very professional !:D Stu
