OK, if it is worth coming from Southampton I have to see what it is all about! I will probably drive up Thursday evening; is there a recommended hotel nearby? Regards Dave P

Hi Dave, I stayed at the Premier Inn on the outskirts of Darlington last year, address Morton Park Way, Morton Park, DL1 4PJ . It is about 20 minutes away from Croft and I will be staying there definately on Thursday this year, but not sure about Friday yet. Haven't booked yet as it is showing £65 at the moment.

Do any of these days ever get 'reduced' in price or is it just what it is?
07/04/2012 05:19:26
Tim Guy
Hi Maccy. Welcome to the forum. Unfortunately motor circuits are expensive places to hire for the day. MGs on Track is run by unpaid volunteers on a not for profit basis and we keep margins on our own days as tight as possible. There just isn't anything to discount. This particular day at Croft is a little different as it's run run by Lotus on Track who operate on a slightly different basis but they are certainly not getting rich either. LoT have invited MGoT members to book directly on their website and there's nothing in it for us other than offering the possibility of another track day to our members.

Wow! What can I say except absolutely awsome circuit, this has to be one circuit us Southern softies are really missing out on. Get it right and the fast chicane onto the long back straight to tower, followed by Jim Clark Esses and Darcroft (full throttle both if you have the nerve) then Sunny in and out is some of the fastest high speed tests I've encountered. But there are also technical sections of the complex and hairpin to end the lap followed by Clervaux and Hawthorn to start it. Most of us had a fantastic day with our friends at Lotus-on-Track, unfortunately Colin and Matt Wright in Colin's, new to him, Supercharged MG F only lasted 1 & bit sessions as the engine kept trying to throw its supercharger drive belt, great shame guys. Great to see some faces new to me, Harry Knowles, Gordon Dixon and Andy McDonald in F's, Tom Clougher out for the first time in his much modified and very quick ZS 120. Then old friends Trevor Leighton, Rooney Massara and Alan Byram, add in a much welcome dry day and it really couldn't have been bettered. Good news is that Jo Lloyd of LoT is hoping to run a day again next year, if that happens we will get the same invitation extended to us as this. My advice when it happens is, start saving now and grab it with both hands.
Where's the video  :D
I note it took you Steve, an experienced video user, editor and YouTube user, 5 days to post your Castle Combe video. So a little patience Sir, I have never used a video camera, I have to master the new computer, load the software, work out how to use it and then I guess, register and upload to YouTube. So sometime before we return next year I guess. So calm down Dear! :p

Just a couple of tips Martin... I'm not sure if you are using any special software, I normally upload the Vid to my PC, play around with it, then download to Youtube... With me, it's lots of trial and error, being a typical bloke, don't read the instructions until I need to !! ;) Best to upload onto Youtube when you are not using the PC for a number of hours, whatever you do, don't attempt to use the PC AT ALL whilst uploading as it will stop and you have to start all over again...(very frustrating!) A 10 minute Video can take 3-4 hours (sometimes more) depending on your connection speed. Any problems, give me a call
Any problems, give me a call
Cheers mate, I may do. I have Pixela software that came with the Canon Camcorder, but I have a new laptop and desktop, the laptop I'm reasonably familiar with now having had it about 6 weeks. The desktop I only got last week, it was my 35 years at work award from the company. Then the printer packed up, so I spent last evening setting an HP wireless printer up to the desktop, tonight I want to connect the laptop to it. All this new technology is doing my head in, slowly, slowly, catchy, Monkey. As to what all these radio waves whizzing around my flat are doing to me, I dread to think!
