Getting a passenger ride shouldn't be a problem, on arrival you need to make contact with a club official, sign an indemnity and then we can find somebody to take you out. To take in car pictures the camera must be fixed to an in car camera mount that is fixed to the car. This must be securely fixed, so suction pad camera mounts are not allowed, the most common type I've seen fix to the seat headrest posts. So providing that obstacle can be overcome you should be able to to get shots using a remote shutter release which can be hand held. Obviously you cannot hand hold a camera as in the event of a spin or accident you can very easily let go of it and it becomes an effective missile inside the car. :eek:

12/01/2012 11:22:53 John Lister Hi Brent, I will take you for a spin! THe car is fitted with a roll bar which a camera could be fitted to, but I do not have a camera clamp, however if you have one you are welcome to clamp it on. Cheers John

12/01/2012 12:33:40 Trophy-Steve Hi Brent, Does your car have removable headrest ?? ....If so a cheap set up which I use in my MGF. Using a 1" box section aluminium or steel square tube and about 18" long.. Place against your headrest and mark the points on the tube where the H/rests go into the back of the seat... Drill two holes in the tube where the H/rest would slot through... Remove headrest, place tube over seat and replace headrest to form a clamp over the tube... Obtain from jessop's (other photography shops are available !) a Swivel mount, cost about £8, drill hole and screw into box section tubing... There you have it, a removeable, fixed camera mount... alternatively you can buy one for around £50 Hope this helps ;)

This will sort the problem if John L. is happy to clamp it to his roll cage for a session. Find me at signing on, or locate my red MGF T81 SPA (not the one in the picture; my racing green MGF MG2000 was from the Abingdon Trophy Series in 2000, sold long since) - how time flies! :D John Dignan.

If not, you may be pleasantly supprised how they peform as a standard car. Before spending bundles on any Mod's, come along to one of our Track Days and experience it for yourself, you can ask many drivers there as to what mod's they have made and at least spend your money wisely ;).

One thing is for sure, with the F/TF probably being the most common car, along with the MG B, you won't be short of people to talk to. Goodwood is sold out, but we do run a reserve list, I will e-mail you this evening to get your details, we usually have one or two fall out for various un-seen reasons. But you are welcome to pop along, spectating at track days is free, also at the first Goodwood on Saturday 25th February, there will be a parade lap session at lunch time. This is run for charity by our good friends from the Chichester Branch of MG Owners Club. Also if you get along to any day before you book your first track day, we can usually arrange for somne passenger laps with somebody. As I said I'll e-mail you this evening.

I'm certainly not wanting to rain on your parade but many digital cameras don't have a very wide field of view and your pictures might just look straight out of the windscreen and down the track - making it look a bit as though you were just stood in the middle of the circuit. To get anything of the car interior to frame the shot needs a 90 degree or more wide angle... have a look at [url]www.mgracing.co.uk[/url] (shamleess plug for the race series!) and there's quite a few video clips from inside cars. Some show the interior and driver, some just the forward view - see which you prefer. Time permitting, I'll put a second seat in the car and give you a ride on the day.
