I second that. I only turned up to visit MartinC and found that there was a spare place after lunch :). I took it and having never driven my own car (MG Metro Turbo) on a track thought it was a real blast, a really great experience. My step son, Sam, also had a go and was quicker than me, but that is to be expected seeing the age difference:). I also met up with some of the MG car club members who take part in the sprints where I marshall, so it was great to see them as well. Really great day and look forward to the next one.

Me too!
I wasn't sure I was going to enjoy Castle Combe that much (I've watched racing there before and it seemed to be a real car breaker!) but the circuit definitely grew on me throughout the day :) There's a really nice mix of different types of corner that is very satisfying when you get a rhythm going (and it's not hard on your car if you stay off the kerbs.) I look forward to seeing you all back there in September :D

What a great day!
I just wanted to add my comments to those above and to encourage some of you who may not have been on a track day before. Before this day at Castle Coombe, I had been to the beginners days at North Weald (last February) and to Silverstone in 2009. Castle Coombe is a brilliant circuit, but aparts from the great circuit, everyone is very friendly and helpful and the time between sessions passes very fast as you chat with others and do a bit of "tyre kicking". What really made my day was having a slot with one of the instructors. On this occasion it was Castle Coombes Barry who went out with me. This was the best £10 I have ever spent, as prior to going round the circuit with Barry, I thought I hade been doing reasonably well, but a couple of laps with himn and I had really learnt the racing lines, where to brake and most importantly where to put the power on. Thanks Barry!
If you have been considering doing a track day but are a bit unsure, do come and give it a try, it is great fun, you will meet fantastic people (MG is truly the marque of friendship) and do book an instruction slot, it will really make your day.
I also wnated to add my thansk to the committe who organise all of these events in their spare time. Thanks guys and especially for this event to Dave & Martin.
