Hi Chris,
The short answer is yes they will, but if the discs are worn or scored then they won't work as well as they would with new disc's.
I use EBC greenstuff pads on the front of the ZS and EBC OE equivalent pads on the back of my ZS with standard discs.
Incidently a lot of people wouldn't touch EBC pads and disc's with a barge pole. They did go through a bad spell with quality a few years ago, but I've used them on my Midget, B GT and ZS without experiencing any problems.

Hi Martin
I've heard the same stories about the greenstuff pads can you suggest any other upgraded pads? I'm not looking to go over the top with an upgrade as my trackday usage next year will be one at best, so the car will be mainly used on the road

Hi Chris,
I can't recommend anything but have a look at this thread,

I dare say Dave Livingstone, Stu Dickens, Tim Guy and a few other F owners may well offer up some words on this !

Hi Chris
There seems a number of people that don't favour greenstuff but I'm not sure its not forum lore that said enough times become fact.
I used them for some while on standard disks and now on EBC Ultimax disks. I have never had a seconds worry about either initial application or fade on track. Although we do a good number of track days a year, our F is also Fran's daily drive so, like you need something that works well for both.
It may be that some of the Mintex compounds are better but I've never tried them simply because I'm happy with what I've got and don't want to change something that isn't broken.
Do you have the 304mm AP or standard on the front.

Hi Tim
I have standard size discs on my TF I think I am going to plump for some EBC greens and see what happens some people may now tell me why I'm wrong for doing this but for the amount of track use Im planning on next year it really isn't worth my while going nuts and changing both discs and pads.
I've only really noticed the difference in the car as Iv'e recently got a new company car Audi A4 took my TF out for a drive and thought christ its not going to stop,
Many thanks for your adivce

Dont use Green if you are going to drive in anger ...
Reds would be better ..
But it is up to you ..
Your choice ... YOU pay for the pads ....

I fitted EBC drilled/slotted discs and GreenStuff pads to our TF about 18 months ago and I can't fault them. Good initial bite and not too much fade. Same setup on the ZR but noticeable difference with the inferior calipers and smaller discs. If i keep the current setup I may try Red later in the year.
I would check the (standard) discs for wear (thickness) as well as grooving. The thinner the discs get there is less "meat" to dissipate the heat and you run a greater risk of warping the disc and failure. Much better to replace the lot as a set. It could be false economy to just fit uprated pads.

Hi Paul
I did indeed end up going for the same EBC's disc however ended up with mintex pads as they were on offer, the only track I've taken them on so far has been Silverstone but they were brilliant, im more annoyed at myself for taking so long to actaully have the work carried out. However its now made me think hmmmmm what do I change next the list is very long and my overdraft very small

Second Thoughts
Just in case anyone is following this thread with a view to going down this route, I am having second thoughts.
I had a re-occurence of brake juddering at Brands Hatch and took the pads out to have a look. The pad material is breaking up and my technical guru reckons they can't cope (something to do with the excess ballast behind the steering wheel?)- and certainly they need replacing. He is sourcing an alternative, hopefully by Castle Combe. I have enough problems at Avon Rise/Quarry Corner without dodgy brakes adding to the mix!
Perhaps my ringing endorsement of GreenStuff was a little premature.

Paul

Interesting Paul
What size disks do you have on the front.

As I said in my last post ( 13/5/2010 ) GREEN are not good enough if you want to drive in anger ..
So I have tried REDS on the FRONT and GREEN on the rear ....
Seem to stop me OK but I am now working my way to YELLOW pads ..
Nothing wrong with REDS and the JUDDERING could be the ABS ( Anti lock brake ) system working ...I have had the same feeling when I try too hard and brake too late
You should get 4/5 track days and 5k miles from a set of Reds ...IMOP..
But I will check my pads after every 4 Trackdays and couple of thousand miles as I just lost half a trackday due to the rears wearing out when not expected to ...
Bests Gary ...

Hmmm,
Interesting, I use O/E discs and pads, as Gary will testify I am a late breaker, I don't have any trouble with warping or fade.
The reason I use O/E, I have a friend who runs ZR rally cars still, all ex-works cars, did a lot of the works development testing, he has and still does use noting but O/E brakes. Why because as he says, "they've been tested to death and I'm not going to use something that doesn't work when giving people the rally experience"
Works for him and me, just my 2d's worth.

Definitely not ABS
The juddering is not the ABS cutting in. I was getting that at the Deene hairpin at Rockingham when the inside rear wheel lifted. Entirely different feeling.
I am going to bring the old GreenStuff pads to Combe tomorrow if anyone is interested. They are absolutely f****d. I am now running Mintex F series on the front (I think - will confirm tomorrow) and so far they look promising. Tower will tell!
See all y'all tomorrow.
Rgds,
Paul

Paul
I believe I too have had the same juddering you have written about, and have no idea whay it happens it first occured at Cadwell Park last year with alot of heavy braking since changing to the mintex pads it has made a difference but does still happen albiet much later in the day. Has anybody else had these experiences, I put it down to over heating?
|

I have this on mine since fitting grooved discs that after 3-4 laps with heavy braking there is a vibration down the pedal but i thought it was the a mixture of abs and grooved discs?
