The current standard required by many track operators is for a helmet conforming to BS6658 Type A or Snell SA2000.However over then next few months this may well change to even more onerous standards. Given that the helmets on ebay do not state the BS or Snell rating in the info, and their price is astonishingly low, it's highly likely that they would not meet the minimum standard. Regards Tim

Hi Alan, That helmet is stickered as ACU Gold approved, so is motorcyle apporved ONLY and therefore not suitable for car trackdays. To be sure that a helmet will conform to the more stringent rules likely to come in, look for helmet approved to B.S. 6658 - 85 A/FR or Snell SA 2005. But be warned they are not cheap  Cheers, Martin.

Don't panic just yet. We are waiting for a definitive answer on helmet standards from MSV, the owners of Brands, Oulton, Cadwell and Snetterton. At this point we are being ultra-cautious based on

MSV and, increasingly, other circuit owners to specify MSA standard helmets in the terms and conditions of their circuit hire contracts
the changes in MSA standards that are due in 2010 removing the cheaper BS 6658 Type A helmet from the list.
However, if you have to buy a helmet right now, then the only advice we can give is to buy B.S. 6658 - 85 A/FR or Snell SA 2005 as indicated by Martin below.
