Starting to get excited now! Just wondering with all the different models of MG's what sort of speed you are all getting down the hangar straight. My V8 has lots of power but I think the aero dynamics hold it back a lot. Sat Nav says 130mph but speedo is off the scale so reading at least 10mph fast. Cheers

My 160F struggles to get much over 115 I see about 125 indicated. 4th gear theoretically hits the rev limiter at 113 but then not a lot happens in 5th as the standard ratio is too high to get any pull.

My only passenger last year was my minidisc recorder, and working from the the engine sound and the gearing I reckon I was up around 105 there. Most laps I was in 5th for the last little bit. I was dead chuffed to find I was just hitting 100 into Copse, which was one of my ambitions! Surely something has been done over the winter to help you better your 130mph top speed from last year? Joe

Hello Joe, I think this is the first winter that i havent done any mods to the V8 since I started doing track days 8 years ago. Having said that I have some Merlin heads on order from Real steel but I doubt they will be fitted by March. Been making coil over front suspension for the project roadster though. When is your first Race as I would like to come and watch? Cheers Mark

At the other end of the scale my boggo Midget 1500 was indicating about 90 at the end of the Hangar straight and the end of the pit straight in August last year, I didn't get a clear run through Becketts on any lap though, if I had I may have made 92! In the mid nineties I drove a 3.0 Alfa 164 there and all I can tell you is that it was flat in fourth, and the noise was fantastic.

I have a huge amount of work to do before then but fingers crossed!! I have decided to build a new car next year that will hopefully be able to give you a bit more of a run for your money. 1.17s is the target around combe. Still B powered though:D
