Hi Alan Welcome to MGoT. Most of what you need to know/do can be found in our FAQ section, here, http://pitlane.mgs-on-track.com/forumdisplay.php?f=7 Apart from that book some instructor time early in your day. Enjoy Oulton and then come and join us at Silverstone Grand Prix in April. Regards Steve :)

Welcome Hi Alan, Welcome aboard glad to have you along, as you will know I run a virtually standard ZS 120+ on our days. There isn't really anything special you need to do to prepare the car for your day. As Steve pointed out most of the things are covered in the FAQ's section. Obviously the need to ensure all your levels, particularly water and oil on the ZS, are spot on. The pads have plenty of life in them and the tyres are in good condition. I run 17" wheels on mine with 205/45 Conti Sport 2 wrapped around them, although when I had the 16"s on I ran the same tyre pressures. If it is dry 33psi front, 30psi back and if it is wet I run 30psi all round. I've found the ZS's superb neutral handling means it is not so temperamental on tyre choice, I even had things called "Fullrun" tyres on the wheels as bought. Although they coped with two track days, the budget constuction, hard compound, did for the side walls which cracked badly:eek: . By running 33psi front in the dry I've found the edge scuffing not to be very severe and in the wet the water reduces friction and so it is less of in issue. Steve's other advice about an instructor is also very sound and if they are on offer make use of them. Although I wouldn't advise one in the first session of the day as this usually involves the sighting laps and I don't think you get the best out of having the instruction in this session. My trip to Oulton for the first time last month proved the value of instruction. I could not work out the best way of coming out of Hislops and on to the rise to Bridge. My instructor, Steve, told to me to just lift off the throttle as I turned into the right hander after the chicane. This just tucked the nose in enough to get the power on and not run wide on the exit up to Bridge. Also take your time and build the speed throughout the day as your confidence in the cars handling abilities grows. I'm sure you'll have a great day with lots and lots of :D factor. Then get yourself booked in with us next year and come and have some more fun. All being well we will be back at Oulton next November, so I expect a good contingent from ZSCentral out with us to play:) Cheers, Martin.
