Thanks for the reply Norman, Oulton is my local circuit so its only 30 mins down the Chester Road, i'll try and get a few of ZSCentral.com's local guys down there as well may convert a few others to using their cars instead of polishing them...:)
Here is the car I am preparing for sprinting....

Welcome again to MGoT.
Please do come along to Oulton Park and meet a few people. I'd happily offer you some passenger laps, but this is going to be the one event of the year that I can't make :( It's unfortunate also, that one of our regulars with a ZS has also just had to pull out due to head gasket problems with his car. Still, there will be plenty of people there who will be happy to take you around.
When you arrive, ask around or look out for Barry (green Midget), Neil (blue MGF), Stu (red MGF) and Tim (yellow MGF) - all are MGoT committee members. Tim's yellow peril will be easiest to spot:D They can introduce you to some fellow Z owners.

Many thanks, I have just had a PM from Norman as well, thanks for making me welcome, my plans are very much in a variable state at the moment.
With regard to this Oulton Park meet, I will try and get a few more ZSCentral members to come along and take a look.

Welcome....the More ...the Better
Hi there,
As Dave has mentioned I run a ZS 120+ on our track days and love it, but sadly I think I have the dreaded HGF on the way and I'm not sure I'll have it fixed by Oulton. So I have reluctantly given my place up  which I am more than a bit hacked off about..but hey I hope we will return in the future.
I'm sure if Dave has anything to do with it we will, because I know he is desperate to go there as well.
The 120 is great fun on track, as you will know superb handling, OK so not the grunt of a 180 on a striaght drag, but more than a match in the twisty bits, due I think to the cars better weight distribution.
Although I won't be on track at Oulton, if I get the car sorted by then I intend to come up and take some snaps, so I'll keep an eye out for you.
Cheers,
Martin.

Luckily all my cars had had HGF just before I bought them, thats a Rover 45, an MGZS120+ (my roadcar) and my latest MGZS120 (the sprintcar), just hope they were all done properly, the Rover has covered probably 15000 since it was done and my ZS roadcar about 7000 - I havent driven the sprint car at all yet apart from off the trailer into the garage.
Derek Porter put me onto this site, and when I saw that you were holding a trackday at Oulton Park my local circuit I thought I would come along and take a look and maybe bring a few more ZSCentral people along to see what happens.
Hope you get your car sorted out and hopefully I may meet you...

Hi Chris,
Having the gaskets done is never a guarantee that you are safe, mine was done 15,000 miles ago, probably 1,000 odd track miles in that. It was done with the MLS gasket set and properly with the knowledge around at that time. 19 months on the thinking has changed and it has to be said opinions on what constitutes the best fix for K4 HGF problems are a bit like bottoms............everybody has one! :o
I'm coming to the conclusion that HG on K4 engines could almost be treated as a service item.
Hope to meet you Oulton,
Cheers,
Martin.

Yes, somebody is always moving the gal posts around but improving the game at the same time :) I always did that type of work myself in the past, but I was working on Mini's and Metro Turbo's so it was alot easier than on the K series, this engine is all new to me, I actually have a spare 120 engine/gearbox that I bought to play with and then build into something special when I have the time and money.
See you on the 22nd I hope.
Chris

Just got back from Oulton Park and I would just like to say a BIG THANKYOU to Martin and Trevor for making us so welcome Christine, myself and the others were really impressed I honestly didnt think a ZS120 would be as quick as it was and Christine was equally impressed with Trevors MGTF.
Glad you both liked the circuit it really is one of the best in my opinion
Many Thanks for a great afternoon.
Chris & Christine
