Hi All, I'm sue this may have been discussed before, but ………. What's the view on this forum for the best road legal track day tyre for a 1971 midget ? I'd like to keep with my 13'' wheels if possible. I've seen the Pirelli Cinturato CN36, 175/70 R13. Has any one got any experience with these ? Cheers

Dear Richard, My car is a 1973, 1275 cc Midget. I've used Falken Sincera SN832 for the past two years or so, in size 165/70 R13. I've got 13" Minilight style wheels. I can't really say what mileage they've done as the speedo is on the list of things to fix, but I guess they've given perhaps 6-7,000 road miles plus around twenty track days. Main wear has been on the outer edge on the fronts due to lack of any negative camber, which is something I hope to tackle next year. They seem to work fine wet or dry. I have actually replaced two of them in the last month with the same tyre, and will replace the other two after tomorrow's Donington. I purchased from a company called Protyre who sell them at £ 84.00 for a pair fully fitted......eat your hearts out V8 drivers! All the best, Duncan.

Hi All, I just thought I'd give an update on which tyres I went for in the end. I bought Yokohama A539's 175/60 R13. I've now used these at 4 track days and I must say they are fantastic, in both the wet and the dry. They give good feedback to when you're reaching the limit in the wet, I've never found the limit in the dry and I do push the car. On the road they are excellent too, they are no noisier than my previous tyres and don't feel any heavier despite being wider. In summary, I'm very pleased with the look, feel and grip of these tyres.
