As a novice, just 3 track events so far. I have just attended the track event with LOT at Bedford. This was an open pit lane compared to my other two events which were sessions. My question is, which is best? I got so much more track time with the open pit than sessions.
An interesting comment, echoing another recent post in here and some I've seen on other forums. Almost without exception, we run sessioned days. The thinking being that it creates the most novice friendly day; allowing us to group sessions with cars of more similar speed, reducing overtaking and improving safety. Similarly the faster drivers are not being held up to the same extent. It seems you have mixed it with the Lotus boys and not felt concerned so maybe this is not so much of an issue. Maybe we need to discuss our approach in committee.
It may have been an exception this time at Bedford but the track was never full. With 4 mile of track and no waitting to get on there was plenty of space and with it being a flat open track you can see other cars way off. As a novice I was quite happy to let other cars past so that I could concentrate on hooking a few corners together than a whole lap that the pro's where proberbly doing.
Hi Dave, This is not the first time this question has been asked. I can do no more than point you in the direction of this thread which gave a very full answer I think. http://pitlane.mgs-on-track.com/showthread.php?t=999&highlight=open+lane
Thanks for pointing out that privious thread. Well reasoned points. Hopefully I'll be doing alot more of both types of events. Keep up your good work.
