Now this is roughly how it should be done... staying on the black stuff !

...sorry about the video quality... seems my driving skills were not the only thing fully functioning that day !

:D Yes Paddock can bite but what a great corner. You were a bit out of shape that time on the entry, leaving yourself too much to do at the apex.

You're generally making some nice lines in the other video so more concentration needed if you are going to push it ;)

The overtake on the Midget round Clarke at 4:30 looked safe enough but strictly an illegal move. [IMG]

Thanks for posting the links :)

I'm sure that (the Primrose Yellow one) was a B, it only looks like a Midget because the video aspect ratio is squashed up :)

    Indeed you are right, sorry.

Having re-watched the longer video, paying attention to your wheel position, it seems you are occasionally tending to put a touch of extra lock on half a second before the apexes, exactly when you ought to be thinking about unwinding lock and getting on the power. Maybe this is at the root of a few spins. I tend to go in a touch deeper for a better apex and exit.

    But what do I know.

Thanks Tim, points noted and I will strive to improve !!!

Not only is my pride dented, but more so, I hate having the session stopped and causing a delay for everyone else and appologise deeply to all concerned.

From the 'Book of Excuses - No. 122' I did explain to Martin C, what may have led to me being a 'bit off line'... I'm not blaming anyone else other than myself as I am probably guilty of similar moves... So all in all, I learnt a lot of lessons all round.

I'm now going to write out 100 times ' I MUST NOT GET OVER ENTHUSIASTIC AND (try) TO KEEP WITHIN MY LIMITS OF TALENT '

    Steve,

If it's any consolation, I came back into the pits chuckling to myself rather than cursing. At least we got back out again in that session.

    Hi Steve,
As you say we did have a chat, two factors played a part, first unseen, you were being caught rapidly by a BV8, who did nothing wrong and lifted off but was the reason for you being that low on the line. Second was, you lifted off the throttle when committed, unsettled the car and caused the classic lift off oversteer. As we talked about and confirmed by your experienced LoT trackster passenger (the one with the laugh) the lift was induced by being a tad too fast on turn in.

It's called pushing the envelope, a lot of us have been there, it is just, as you've cottoned onto now I think, your envelope was fullscap size and it needs to be A5 size ;) .

Tim makes a valid point about the occasional little extra steering input on the apex, it does the same thing unsettles the car. It is about trying to keep everything balanced I believe and you'll get there :)

But I'll hold you to my penalty clause, next spin £10 next stoppage £20 to charity of course :D

Look forward to seeing you again mate.

Thanks Martin and Tim for your advice re: mid engined cars on the limit, turning in, throttle balance etc. Unless someone points it out to you, then you may never know, so some very useful points there, Thankyou !

One of the reasons I always film the events from in car, is not only to show to the world what a great day you can have with MGOT ;), but also help to improve my own driving techniques and of course that of others who may wish to watch... hence the reason I include my 'off track excursions' as well as my 'podium finishes' !!

(For anyone who wishes to view... GO TO YOUTUBE and type in the search box TROPHYSTEVECHANNEL )

As you can see, in the last session, I got a good rythm going and was pleased with the lines I was taking, now they need just a little 'tweek'.

As for the fines for misdemeanours - Agreed !! :)
