    Hi Alan

The KV6 engine is near bulletproof except for the variable air inlet plenum (VIS motors). Listen out for ticking noises from this area.
Also check that the cambelts have been changed at the proper period and be aware of when they are next due. There are 3 cam belts and its not a job for the timid. Apart from that, it's just general condition.

    Hi Alan,

Welcome to MGs-on-Track, great choice of car, but I'm biased :D

Tim has highlighted the main problems with the KV6, there is plenty of information on the forums about both subjects.

My main concern with the age of car you are looking at would be cambelts, irrespective of mileage, MG/R service schedule, 90k or 6 years. It is a big job and costs £500 - £750 depending on where you get it done.

But there is plenty of choice out there so don't rush to buy one until youy find the right one.
