Thanks Tim. Certainly a lot to learn to try and figure it out but the way the MG community pulls together is always amazing to see, it's what's kept me here for as long as I have been and I hope that I can continue to contribute and repay the help that I've received :)

Any ideas whether what I thought in my PM might be the cause? No replies on .org to whether it could be or not  If not then it might be off to a couple of the Lotus forums or SELOC maybe :(

Would like to join you all for the service day. Gearbox and oil change etc. I expect that I will not have time to sort out my high reving problem before hand, Would any one be there to advise? I'm sure it's not a cable or throttle body issue, (but I could be wrong!) someone has mentioned the fault could lay with the potentiometer? Would love to get this sorted as well though. Cheers!

    You'll be most welcome Jethro

I'm sure, between us, we can offer at least 10 different opinions about your idle problem :D
Who knows, we might even fix it ;)

Having read about the tribulations of removing the disc retaining screws, if I bring a complete set of new discs and pad (front and rear) for my daughters F is there a willing volunteer to give me (lots of) assistance to fit these?

I'll need to beg and borrow tools too (am temporarily "separated" from my personal tool kit!).

I understand the THEORY of how to replace these but have never actually done it myself and obviously being my daughter's car I don't want to take any risks!

I have a spare TB I can bring with me but not sure if it's got the potentiometer with it or not, either way if it sorts your problem then you're welcome to have it :)

Tim, could you change me to just helping please. Will find out tonight hopefully whether I'll be coming in the F or not. If it's a head problem then I'll be up and running before I sleep, if it's a liner problem or something more serious then i'll most likely be in the 216 :( Still, at least I'll be there and be able to fit more in lol

Shouldn't be a problem David as long as you are happy to do most of the work yourself.
I have a windy gun with a Ph3 bit which gets those screws off in a trice, a puller to get the disks off if they are reluctant and a DTI to check they are running straight. Bring a spot of copper grease.

Thanks! Am more than happy to do the work, just need a knowledgable adult looking over my shoulder to wanr me BEFORE I get things wrong!

Read about this on .org and you said numbers were disappointing - I should try and come over from Portsmouth for this as I really want to learn how to maintain myself! What (car) comsumables do I need to bring if I just wanted to do a standard 'service' on it?

    Wow, that's great gotenks! Cheers!
If any one want's a pair of dirty hands over their bodywork, I'm yer man! ;) I'll bring a few tools up with me if any one needs them.

so far i need help with fitting:
    • Central Locking
    • Daytona Exhaust
ill be fitting/showing people how to fit:
    • Speedo Cluster & Dials
    • Clock/Dials around heater control
Ill be able to assist with:
    • Window regulators
    • Induction Kits
    • Wheel Adapters
    • Speedo/heater control unit
    Ill be bringing:
    • Very very limited tool set (its tiny!)
    • Burgers :)
    • Sausages :D
Ill be coming from Dartford leaving at 7:00am, taking the M25 anti clockwise from J2 until the M3 turn off, then its all the way down until the M27 goes into the A31 which will bring me to the area.

No worries :) I've had a lot of help from people on the forums and am more than happy to help out when and where I can. It's what makes it the place it is after all

Only a week to go now :D

    I have:

4 new brake discs, 8 new brake pads
oil filter, air filter, oil sump plug, brake fluid
    copper grease
    tools (some).
I might be able to get my hydraulic jack back from the borrower in time.

So the plan for my daughter's MGF VVC is:

    1) replace oil and filter
    2) replace air filter
    3) replace all discs and pads
    4) renew brake fluid.

Anything else I need to get before 13th?

We will be the green F and blue TF with Dad and daughter looking lost and helpless - if you see us I'd welcome assistance with the brake stuff - this will be my first attempt at brake replacement!

Will you be doing spark plugs and leads as well? Could possibly do clutch fluid & gearbox fluid depending on when they were last done/how old the car is :)

I'm happy to lend a hand, not sure how busy I'll be (depends if I do fit the lowering pins or not) but sure there will still be time :D

i've recently brought my car and just had the cambelt and part service done. unsure they changed the clutch/gearbox fluid (until i check service sheet later) but if they didn't could you help in changing mine too? What would be the correct fluid i'd need to bring?.
